Hon. Maurine Mwangovya


Ms. Maureen Mwangovya is the currently the County Executive Member for Lands, Housing, Energy, Physical Planning and Urban Development. She is incharge of a department that has been grappling with critical issues of land tenure, inadequate access to Energy & Housing and unplanned areas. The department has embarked on land tenure regularisation, achieving affordable housing, access to clean energy and improved physical planning and urban development, within the County.
Between 2009 and 2012, Ms. Mwangovya served as the Chief Executive Officer of Solidarity with Women in Distress (Kenya). From the year 2000 to 2007, she worked as a Programme Officer with Plan International.

In addition, Ms. Mwangovya has worked as a consultant, researcher and part-time lecturer at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) and Pwani University Kilifi. She has also worked as a researcher for Kenya Medical Research Institute KEMRI/CDC & University of Manitoba, with a focus on assessing the heroin shortage in Mombasa and Nairobi.
Ms. Mwangovya holds a M.A in Project Planning and Management and a B.A in Economics and Government, both from the University of Nairobi.
