Charles is a certified Communications professional (PRSK Certified), HR professional (IHRM Certified), Web Administrator (Intek Microsystems) and a member of Kenya Institute of Management. He is  a certified Translator (EIATA Certified) with knowledge of Translation software such as MemoQ and Trados. He is a recipient of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation scholarship for Management.

Charles is passionate about projects that integrate learning with IT and has been instrumental in coordinating education projects with various partners including the Ajira Digital programme with the Ministry of ICT, Jolyphonics (an English literacy method that teaches children to read and write using sounds); The Innovation Hub (a StartUp Africa/Pwani University/Kilifi County programme where students in the County are given an opportunity to pitch innovation ideas for funding) and K-Play Programme with Irex International among others.

He facilitated take off and efficient coordination of the Irex Kenya-Play (K-Play) programme through effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including county departments, department of education in National Government, Teachers Service Commission, County Education Board among others and is currently member of its Steering Committee. As Chair of the County website committee he led in the design of the county website making it modern and interactive and conducted training for departmental web administrators.

As a father to girls, Charles is an advocate for girl education and has initiated programmes meant to keep girls in school by providing pads and starting lunch programmes. He is a supporter of the Kilifi pad-a-girl initiative.

The Department of Education and ICT is implementing the KPLAY programme with IREX International The Kenya Play (KPLAY) Program is a holistic, gender responsive approach to scaling Learning Through Play with Technology (LTPT) in coastal Kenya’s Kwale and Kilifi Counties. KPLAY is funded by the LEGO Foundation as part of the global LTPT initiative.
The project is led by IREX with technical support from partners including Humans Who Play (HWP) and Dignitats. Aligned with Kenya’s new national Competency- Based Curriculum (CBC), KPLAY will provide methodologies to help teachers build the STEM and soft skills required by the CBC and for Kenya’s vision for its future.
