“Pauline Mwaka Becomes Kilifi County’s First Female Coxswain III, Paving the Way for Women in Maritime”

Congratulations to Pauline Mwaka on becoming the first female Coxswain III in Kilifi County!

The 27-year-old, hailing from Kibarani Ward, has also successfully completed the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) certification, enabling her to work with larger vessels.

Pauline is among 33 fisherfolk from Kilifi County who received their Coxswain III certificates after completing a six-week training funded by the KEMFSED grant. Since 2023, 158 fisherfolk have undergone this training.

CECM Dr. Patteson Chula Mwagona and Herbert Tawa Mwachiro, Chief Officer for Blue Economy, were present at the Kisumu Maritime Centre to witness this milestone.
