The County Government of Kilifi today received an award for outstanding performance in advocacy and progress towards achieving Community Led Total Sanitation. The county managed to achieve an open defecation-free status in 2 sub-counties (Kilifi North & Rabai) and target 90 percent of all the villages in the county by end of 2022.

The award was received by CECM Health and Sanitation Peter Mwarogo during the national review meeting of the Kenya Sanitation Alliance held in Nairobi. Kilifi County Assembly Health Committee Chair Hon. Edward Kazungu Ziro and the county WASH coordinator Abdulla Munga were also in attendance.

H.E. Gideon Mungaro recently signed a commitment with the Kenya Sanitation Alliance to improve sanitation in Kilifi County. The Alliance brings together the Ministry of Health and Development Partners including UNICEF, USAID, World Vision, Amref, and JICA.

Congratulations to the Kilifi Department of Health Services for the Achievement.

Let’s strive to make Kilifi County an Open Defecation Free Zone!
