Food security is key in my agenda. To achieve this, we need to adopt innovative methods of food production such as climate smart agriculture, irrigation and use of sustainable farm practices to ensure we have continuous food production throughout the year .
I joined H.E President William Ruto for a visit at the Galana Kulalu Food Security Project. The project which is located in Kilifi and Tana river Counties is instrumental for the achievement of food security in the country.
The Vision 2030 flagship project has the potential to produce Rice, Coconut, Pineapples, Maize, Tomatoes, Passion, Pepper, and livestock farming.
Irrigation will enable us reduce dependence on rain fed agriculture, which has continued to be affected by the adverse effects of climate change, leading to low food production.
My administration is committed to partner with the National Government and relevant partners to ensure that, the people of Kilifi have access to reliable, affordable and nutritious food.
H.E Gideon Maitha Mungaro, OGW
