H.E Amason Kingi officially opened Lenga dispensary maternity unit in Kambe Ribe ward, Rabai sub-county to the public.
The modern facility constructed by the county government is one of the Key projects that the department of health has undertaken in order to provide quality maternal health care to pregnant women in Rabai.
The facility with a capacity of admitting more than 10 pregnant mothers will serve the great Kambe Ribe areas.
Before, there were no facilities in the area and pregnant mothers had to either give birth at home or travel to Kaloleni or Mariakani to deliver.
However the construction of the facility will help more mother seek proffesional when in labour.
Speaking during the launch of the maternity, governor Kingi said the new facility will make women in Rabai give birth in a safe environment.
"Our mothers and daughters have suffered alot over the years because they didn't have a place to give birth. But with the coming up of this facility our mothers will now be able to give birth in a safe environment and in a dignified manner," said Kingi.
Lenga maternity unit is among the new facilities that the county government has constructed across the county including other facilities such as the modern Rabai sub-county maternity and operation theatre, Mrima wa ndege maternity ward, Bamba maternity and operation theatre among others.
Mr Kingi who also visited the Rabai sub- county hospital and saw the progress if the newly constructed Rabai sub-county hospital also assured the residents that the county had hired qualified staff including a resident doctor who will serve them at the Rabai sub-county hospital.
"When i was elected one of the cries of the the people of Rabai was that they wanted a maternity. I have kept my promise and i have built this facility to serve you. You will be served by qualified personell as the county has now hired a doctor who will provide medical treatment right here in Rabai," said Governor Kingi.
